... Michel Chapuis acts on the basis of a concept that bears his entirely personal mark. On the one hand he works out compositional structures with the greatest possible clarity; on the other he is a careful, indefatigable philologist who has scrupulously studied the appropriate historical treatises and documents concerning organ playing. Nevertheless, he is not an « academic » interpreter, but insists on imparting a personally colored intensity of expression.
